Henry Wong, PT, DPT, CFMT began his career in treating and healing the human body in 2003, when he started practicing massage therapy. The positive impacts he saw with his clients with hands-on bodywork sparked his interest in pursuing a bachelor degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on studying Human Movement. After graduating from San Francisco State University, Henry furthered his studies at the University of the Pacific Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.
After successfully completing this rigorous doctorate program in 2008, Henry dedicated the next 10 years of his life practicing primarily in out-patient Orthopedics Physical therapy. The experience of treating various patients throughout his career was both rewarding and challenging. The exposure to a diversity of cases and diagnosis allowed him to grow and strengthen his skills in the physical therapy field. This instrumental experience spearheaded Henry into embarking on a new chapter in his career; opening his own clinic. In 2018, Henry decided to fulfil his dream of starting his private practice. With his strong clinical knowledge coupled with compassion for his patients, Henry’s main goal is to create an environment that provides the quality care that he feels patients’ needs and deserves. He believes the most important core values in any physical therapy clinic are to provide excellent customer service by listening to patients , by developing a good relationship with the patient, by treating everyone as a unique individual, and by believing that everyone has a potential to improve their health.
Henry will bring over 10 years of Physical therapy background experience mainly in Out-Patient Orthopedics, but also draws experiences from years of massage therapy/deep tissue massage experience. Henry Wong has recently completed a rigorous certification through the Institute of Physical Art® (IPA) for their Certified Functional Manual Therapist certificate® (CFMT). Henry is also trained to instruct TRX® training sessions course providing 1 on 1 sessions with clients. Henry also has training to treat Visceral symptoms through mobilization and relaxation. He has continues to engage in educational courses to broadened his knowledge of evaluations and assessments, to utilize new innovative treatment techniques, and to develop methods to heal the human body for Physical therapy. His physical therapy and wellness care to his patients is founded on his extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, comprehensive examination and evaluation, and Functional Manual Therapy® treatment which includes a combination of manual therapy/soft tissue mobilization, deep tissue mobilization, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, motor control training, and finally patient education. Each session is focused on reducing patient’s symptom, elimination of patient’s complaints, as well as helping patient’s reach their functional goals. The final goal for Henry is to work with his patients to provide the appropriate education for his patients to independently foster actions and habits for injury prevention, and to develop a lasting relationship to help his patient throughout their lifetime.
In his spare time, Henry enjoys spending time with his wife, exploring restaurants in the Bay Area and taking short hikes in the city. Henry also enjoys dedicating time to some relaxation and rejuvenation through exercise, stretching, and meditation. Henry's one true passion is continuously learning more about the human body and physical therapy, at which he schedules several continue education courses each year to broaden and improve his skill level and techniques.
